Chicago Chapter

The Chicago/Midwest Chapter sponsored it's second conference on January 21, 2011 at Rush University Medical Center. The day began with informal round-table discussions which included Hot Topics for Dietitians, Sustainability/Green Practices and Senior Living Trends. Next, a cost reduction panel addressed questions regarding cost reduction strategies by sharing personal, real-life experiences. The audience participation was lively as they asked many questions of the panel and also shared their own experiences. Then, Robert True, from University of Illinois Medical Center, presented 101+ Ways to Control Your Food Costs. The full day of education ended with Carolyn Ruck, from Ruck-Shockey Associates, presenting on Defending Against the Threat of a Contractor. This topic created active participation from member operators as well.

A special thanks goes out to Marcelle Stone from Rush University Medical Center. Marcelle coordinated a wonderful event and provided a delicious breakfast and lunch for the meeting. We would also like to thank SYSCO-Chicago for sponsoring this event.

Please save the date for the our chapter conference. We will be at Saint James Hospital in Chicago Heights on April 15, 2011. Watch for upcoming emails announcing topics for the day.

It is the AHF Chicago Midwest Chapter's goal to provide an opportunity for networking and professional development within the Healthcare Foodservice industry. Please consider joining our chapter.
