National Healthcare Foodservice Workers Week™

National Healthcare Foodservice Workers Week™ is Here
Our moment to shine has arrived! National Healthcare Foodservice Workers Week™ honors each member of the very dedicated, extremely hard working foodservice staff within our facilities. Because we are sometimes overlooked (and frequently must even prepare the celebration food in addition to our routine responsibilities), this week is all about promoting food and nutrition services as an integral aspect of healthcare-after all, food is medicine and foodservice is a core component in the delivery of healthcare.
Our work not only benefits the organizations we serve, but also the communities where we live and work. The core philosophy of healthcare is to deliver healing, wellness and peace of mind-and we are an important resource in bringing this philosophy to life. Healthcare foodservice professionals are continually finding ways to improve customer satisfaction, think creatively, focus on innovation, tap into critical resources and institute the best practices that ensure satisfaction standards are being met and exceeded.
Please take time this week to recognize and thank all those hard working individuals who make healthcare foodservice possible, from the dishwasher to the administrative leader. AHF understands and appreciates all you do for your customers!

Did you know?
The National Healthcare Foodservice Workers Week™ tradition was started in 1985 by a legacy association that is now part of AHF? Through their efforts the U.S. Congress declared that the first week of each October would be a national time to recognize the integral role that foodservice staff plays in helping the employees and patients of healthcare facilities stay well-nourished and healthy. Today the importance of excellent nutrition has been established – now we recognize the delivery of this vital resource within healthcare organizations. This week is an excellent opportunity to recognize and thank those dedicated individuals who provide food and nutrition services in healthcare.
