Association for Healthcare Foodservice (AHF) was created by a 2009 consolidation of two leading industry groups, the Association for Healthcare Foodservice (AHF) is the only association dedicated to supporting and promoting the self-operated healthcare foodservice industry — the healthcare facilities who choose to keep their foodservice departments "in house," instead of outsourcing them to third-party contractors. Self-operation allows more creativity and flexibility in healthcare foodservice, while aligning retail and patient foodservice under a core commitment to nutrition and public well-being.
AHF currently serves over 1,600 members across the United States and beyond. The national organization also supports ten chapters on the local and regional level.

AHF Benchmarking EXPRESS™ offers the largest database of healthcare foodservice operations in the United States, providing a much-needed national meal counting standard. The program provides a powerful tool to ensure best practices and customer satisfaction. Importantly, AHF's benchmarking program offers a value equation (patient satisfaction versus cost) not available anywhere else. The ability to link cost and satisfaction in one program is invaluable. In today's fast changing and competitive healthcare environment, it's essential that healthcare executives have the ability to assess how foodservice operations are performing compared to peers. Without a national standard for foodservice in healthcare, there is no clear way to identify and address critical resource allocation issues. AHF meets this important need.
