Patti Oliver

AHF President Patti Oliver, MS, MBA, RD, DHFCA is Director of Nutrition at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles where she manages a $23 million budget and oversees 270 employees in a multi-unit, multi-cultural environment that produces over 5 million meals annually. Patti successfully planned and implemented the transition from a complex medical center to a replacement hospital while simultaneously implementing an upscale, hotel style room service at UCLA called Signature Dining.

The need for innovations in technology prompted Patti to spearhead the conversion of multiple disconnected systems to electronic versions, including point-of-sale for retail services, electronic medical record and automated software for room service and menu production. She also implemented cafeteria and patient feeding wellness programs. Her role as chair on the UCLA Healthcare Wellness Committee and Initiative helped win the 2007 California "Fit Business" Bronze Award from the California Task Force on Youth and Workplace Wellness.

Prior to being elected AHF President in August 2011, Patti has served in leadership roles for the UCLA Healthcare Wellness Committee, the UHC Food and Nutrition Council and the American Society for Healthcare Food Service Administrators. She was also a Management in Food and Nutrition Systems member-at-large, and serves on the committee for ADA FNCE PPAC.

A published author and accomplished speaker she is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions including:

  • ADA Excellence in Management Practice Award recipient, 2010
  • Food Management magazine cover and feature article, April 2009
  • Distinguished Health Care Food Service Administrator, American Society for Healthcare Food Service Administrators, 2009
  • Ivy Award Nominee, 2008 (Restaurants and Institutions magazine sponsors this award that recognizes high standards of excellence and achievement)
  • Headliner Award, American Society for Healthcare Food Service Administrators 2007 (Awarded to individuals who have set the benchmark for excellence with their award winning programs)
  • Don Marsh Operator of the Year Award, American Society for Healthcare Food Service Administrators, 2007 (One award is given each year for overall healthcare food service excellence)
  • Trendsetter, Food Service Director magazine, May, 2007
  • Trendsetter, Trends magazine, American Society for Healthcare Food Service Administrators, 2006
